Why Make an Islamic Will

Fulfil an important religious duty

The Qur'an specifies that we must distribute our wealth in a certain way when you pass away. If you pass away without a will, your wealth will be distributed according to the English and Welsh Law disregarding your religious obligations.

Allah states in the Qur'an

"There is a share for men and a share for women from what is left by parents and those nearest related, whether, the property be small or large - a legal share." (Qur'an 4:7)

"These are the limits (set by) Allah (or ordainments as regards laws of inheritance), and whosoever obeys Allah and Muhammad will be admitted to Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), to abide therein, and that will be the great success." (Qur'an 4:13)

Our Prophet said that "It is not rightful for a Muslim person, if he has anything to bequeath, that he sleeps two consecutive nights without having his Will written with him." (Narrated Abdullah bin Umar: Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 51, Number 1)

Protect Yourself

Your Islamic Will ensures your wealth is distributed in accordance with the Islamic Laws of Inheritance.

Protect Your Family

Your Islamic Will ensures your family receive their "legal share" without the hassle and costs of having to apply to the English Courts for it.

Protect Your Children

Your Islamic Will allows you to appoint guardians for your children under 18 years of age, which would otherwise be decided by the English courts.

Protect Your Body

Your Islamic Wills requests that your body is not subjected to embalmment or an unnecessary post-mortem examination and your wish to have a Muslim burial.

Protect Your Obligations

Your Islamic Will includes provisions for the payment of outstanding religious obligations such as unpaid Mahr (gift to wife), Zakat (compulsory charity) and Fidya (compensation for missed prayers or fasts).

Protect Your Future

Your Islamic Will allows you to make donations for the purpose of Sadaqah Jariya (charity of ongoing rewards), an action which continues to be rewarded after death.
